VACANCY: ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN
PERMANENT APPOINTMENT
Purpose of the position:
To process and acquire information resources recommended and prescribed by staff for purposes of teaching, learning and research.
Job description
· Capture orders of recommended information resources on the Library Management System
· Process invoices and submit for payment
· Handle invoice queries
· Ensure that proof of payment/remittance advice is sent to supplier(s) timeously.
· Follow up on proofs of payment for both local and international suppliers if not received
· Capture payment information for received items on the Library Management System
· Export payment information to the correct item record
· Communicate with suppliers regarding consignment queries
· Ensure availability of barcodes with accurate sequence
Ensure files of orders and invoices are properly maintained
Minimum requirements
· B. Bibl (Library and Information Science) or a Bachelor’s Degree plus Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science
· 1 - 2 years’ experience in an academic library (Acquisitions)
Other competency requirements:
· Mathematical Literacy
· Computer Literacy (MS Office, internet, e-mails)
· Attention to detail
· Knowledge of Acquisitions module on a Library Management System
· Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
· Good communication skills (verbal and written)
· Telephone etiquette
· Driven
· Ability to work under pressure
TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: Market related
