NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY LOCATION: MAHIKENG CAMPUS DIVISION: CORPORATE RELATIONS & MARKETING (CRM) DEPARTMENT: STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS POSITION NUMBER: N000424 VACANCY: ALUMNI RELATIONS PRACTITIONER REPORTING TO: SECTION HEAD: ALUMNI RELATIONS PEROMNES GRADE: P9 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Plan and execute activities aimed at fostering goodwill and positive relations between the North-West University and its alumni.
Job description

1.    Events management
  • Organise various events aimed at strengthening relations with alumni and senior students.
 
2.    Communication
  • Gather information and disseminate the same to alumni using different communication platforms with the aim of keeping them up to date with developments at the university.
 
3.    Relationship building
  • Establish and maintain relations with various stakeholders including university staff at different levels, students, alumni and the general community
                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Communication studies, Journalism, Public Relations, or related qualifications
  • 3-4 Years experience in events management (essential)
  • 3-4 Years experience in relationship building (essential)
  • 3-4 Years experience in communication (essential)
  • Professional membership with PRISA and IABC (desirable)
 
Functional & Technical competencies:
  • Ability to plan, execute and deliver multiple events to meet deadlines
  • Good writing skills for different communication platforms.
  • Excellent organisational, problem solving skills and Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders including staff, students, alumni and the community
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point) as well as email and internet
  • Experience within the higher-education environment will be an advantage
 
Behavioural competencies:
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Ability to prioritise work, organise and deliver multiple tasks to meet deadline
