PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To fill an existing vacant post to teach Physical Sciences. A junior lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional career relevant to the profession or discipline in terms of research and community engagement
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaching-learning - Teaching-learning of Physical Sciences and Natural Sciences to B.Ed. and B.Ed. Hons students (includes organisational and management tasks).
2. Research - Furthering of own qualifications.
3. Community Engagement - Be involved or initiate community engagement projects.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Relevant First degree with Physics 3 (Physical Sciences)
· Honour’s degree with specialisation in Physics (Physical Sciences) will be an advantage
· Initial teacher’s qualification with majors in Physical Sciences
· Minimum of 2 years’ relevant teaching experience in Secondary schools
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Fundamental Knowledge of Physical Sciences concepts to teach Physics (and Natural Sciences) content modules for undergraduate B.Ed. and Hons students
· Knowledge of dynamic teaching- learning technologies;
· Good computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
· Use of blended learning environments, e.g., Internet and email;
