Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To perform duties and activities relating to the postal and courier services at the Mahikeng Campus to meet the daily, weekly and monthly targets within the division.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Driver
·       Collection of Post Office mail on a daily basis.
·       Collection and delivery of Mahikeng Campus internal mail on a daily basis.
·       Caring for the vehicle and report problems.
 
Mail services
·       Assist with the opening and sorting of the incoming mail into internal mail boxes on a daily basis.
·       Assist with the notification of recipients via SMS.
·       Delivery of mail and parcels to other department and faculties.
 
Courier services
·       Assist with receiving and dispatching of courier parcels and the recording thereof in the goods register book.
·       Notification to recipients via SMS and email.
 
Ad hoc assignments
·       Responsible for any ad hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor or head of the department.
 

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·         Grade 12
·         Driving License
·         1-year knowledge of postal, couriers and messenger services
·         1-year record keeping experience is desirable
·         1-year administrative experience is essential
 
Functional & Technical competencies:
·         Basic reading and writing skills
·         Basic computer literacy – GroupWise and MS Word/Excel
·         Basis route planning capabilities

·         Client services orientated
·         Good communication skills
·         Interpersonal skills
·         Must be able to work in a team
·         Correct and neat work
·         Excellent organising skills

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
