PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in Human and Economic Geography
Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teach undergraduate and Honours modules in Human and Economic Geography.
· Coordinate assigned modules within the subject group and across campuses.
· Attract and supervise MSc and PhD student.
· Obtain research funds and manage research projects.
· Produce high quality, accredited and peer-reviewed research outputs.
· General administrative tasks within the subject group and the School.
· Participate in community engagement which includes identifying Community engagement projects.
Minimum requirements
Qualification
· MSc or PhD in Geography with special focus on Human or Economic Geography (or closely related field) is essential.
Experience/s
· At least 5 years’ experience in teaching and research in tertiary education environment.
· At least 5 publications in high impact journals in the field Human and Economic Geography or related disciplines.
· Potential to supervise PhD and MSc students.
· Potential to attract external research funding.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Teach undergraduate and Honours modules in Human and Economic Geography.
· Coordinate assigned modules in the subject group and across campuses.
· Supervise postgraduate students.
· Demonstrate enthusiasm for research and attracting research funding.
· Produce high quality, accredited and peer-reviewed research outputs.
· General administrative tasks.
· Participate in community engagement.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
