Job description

1.    Student Account Enquiries
  • Assist with all student enquiries and general assistance on phone, e-mail and over the counter
  • Actively attend to generic e-mail account. Respond to enquiries within 48 hours.
  • Provide quotations with accurate information within 48 hours of request received. Become familiar with new online quotation system in order to assist with all enquiries
  • Customer service

2.    Student Account Administration
  • Process manual transactions on student accounts according to financial rules and guidelines. Use Bpel files for bulk uploads
  • Process adjustments and cancellations based on information received from SALA
  • Process student cancellations within 30 days
  • Regularly review credit balances for students not registered and clear old accounts
  • Perform account audits ii.

3.    Processing of credit refunds
  • Receive and control requests for completeness
  • Ensure cheque levies are processed on student account
  • Capture all credit refund requests on control sheet
  • Ensure request forms are authorised by Supervisor / Manager
  • Accurately capture refunds on VSS system
  • Process credit refunds within 10 working days

4.    Financial Enquiries
  • Assist with all enquiries from external bursars with financial and general enquiries 
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with external bursars.

5.    Ad Hoc
  • Assist with all reasonable and ad hoc tasks that might surface in the line of duty in the Student Accounts & Bursary Department.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                           
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 with accounting (essential)
  • Accounting or Financial Qualification (essential)
  • 2 years experience in Financial Processing (essential)
  • 1-year experience within the tertiary education environment (desirable)
  • 1 year VSS System knowledge (desirable)

  • Computer Literate in MS Office
