PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To maintain safety and security effectively and efficiently on the NWU Potchefstroom campus.
Job description

 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Intermediate computer literacy skills ( Ms Office, Word, Excel, etc.)
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to function within a multilingual and multicultural environment.
·       Ability to work according to planning schedules and measurable goals.
·       Complete and maintain an accurate pocketbook and incident documentation.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Proven ability to work with precision under pressure.
·       Excellent judgement skills
·       Interpersonal Skills
·       Customer service orientated.
·       Excellent time management skills

Minimum requirements

·       Grade 12.
·        PSiRA Grade C.
·       Five (5) years’ continuous experience at NWU Protection Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      Communication and Stakeholder Relations
o   Communicate effectively with all stakeholders with regards to protection services through various mediums.
o   Brief members on patrol at the NWU Potchefstroom campus of any threats.
o    Ensure compliance with the safety and security regulations and standard operating Procedures at the NWU Potchefstroom campus.
2.      Crime Information Management
o   Ensure crime, incidents and information are captured on Chase and Property Register.
o   Ensure crime information received is reported to the Control Officer and disseminated to members..
3.      Operations
o    Effective communication in order to ensure a safe NWU Potchefstroom campus community.
o   Act in the best safety and security interest of the NWU Potchefstroom community.
o   Ensure effective alarm management.
o   Ensure the key control is executed efficiently.
o   Maintain effective and consistent radio and telephone communication.
o   Maintain effective incident management.
o   Ensure all faults and deviations reported are captured timeously.
4.      Security
o   Capture deployment of outsourced security services on Chase.
5.      Disaster Management
o   Ensure immediate response[s] to relevant disasters.
o   Ensure effective internal and external stakeholder communication with reference to incident response and catastrophic incidents.
6.      Special Events and Emergency Services
o   Execute special duties during events as and when required.
       
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
