PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This appointment is expected to make contributions to the teaching and research efforts of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional career, relevant to the profession or discipline in terms of research and community engagement.

Minimum requirements
Professor position:
· Ph.D. in Geography Education or Environmental Education. A relevant Master’s degree (M.Ed. or M.Sc.) in Geography Education or Environmental Education. Relevant honours degree in Geography Education or Environmental Education.
· Initial teacher’s qualification majoring in Geography or Environmental Education.
· Minimum five (5) years minimum teaching experience in any tertiary education institution.
· An extended number of high-quality publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals/book publications.
· Successful completion of post-graduate students (Masters and PhD).
· Evidence of research project involvement.
Associate Professor position:
· PhD in Geography Education or Environmental Education. A relevant Master’s degree (M.Ed. or M.Sc.) in Geography Education or Environmental Education. Relevant honours degree in Geography Education or Environmental Education.
· Initial teacher’s qualification majoring in Geography or Environmental Education.
· Minimum three (3) years teaching experience in any tertiary education institution.
· An increased number of high-quality publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals/book publications.
· Successful completion of post-graduate student supervision (Masters and/or PhD).
Senior Lecturer
· PhD in Geography Education or Environmental Education. A relevant Master’s degree (M.Ed. or M.Sc.) in Geography Education or Environmental Education. Relevant honours degree in Geography Education or Environmental Education.
· Initial teacher’s qualification majoring in Geography or Environmental Education.
· Two (2) years teaching experience in any tertiary education institution.
· Two (2) publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals/book publications
· Involvement in post-graduate student supervision (Masters and PhD).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Advanced knowledge of Geography (Human and Physical Geography, Map Work, and GIS) and Environmental Education to teach Geography and Environmental Education content modules to undergraduate B.Ed. and Hons students.
· Knowledge of dynamic teaching-learning technologies,
· Good computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
· Use of blended learning environments, e.g. Internet and email.
· Advanced research skills.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to function in a multi-lingual working environment.
