NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFTSROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY: IT DEPARTMENT: Architecture and Middleware VACANCY: Junior Infrastructure Architect PEROMNES NUMBER: 8 POSITION NUMBER: N000891 PERMANENT-FULL TIME Purpose of the position: The Infrastructure Architect uses inputs from all stakeholders, leadership and subject matter experts, industry standards and accepted frameworks to produce holistic infrastructure architectures. The infrastructure architect is responsible for aligning the technology choices, design and integration of IT solutions and assets to the larger enterprise architecture, strategies and business outcomes.
Job description

·        Design
 The design of complete infrastructure systems and subsystems, including technology choices, components and integration
·        Analysis
 Holistic analysis, including strategic, process and information levels, identifying and escalating risks and potential opportunities
·        Advise
 Advise IT and institutional management on new technology, relevance of existing technologies, methods and techniques to optimally support institutional strategies and outcomes
·        Planning and Modelling
Design and evaluate lifecycle models to ensure sustainability, support management in the requisition of appropriate resources
·        Collaboration
 Collaborate with internal and external projects and initiatives to continually improve the IT architecture
·        Practices
Contribute to the architecture policies and standards of the NWU, in line with international best practices

Minimum requirements

·        Baccalaureate degree or relevant IT qualification
·        At least 5 years in an architecture role
·        At least 3 years of IT experience in a higher education environment

·        Integration and decomposition mechanisms in enterprise systems
