PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To lead the monitoring and evaluation f UCDG projects. Lead active research in the field of higher education and teaching, engage in scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL). Advise and academic support an academic professional development of academics as teachers to enable quality and innovative teaching to improve student success.
Job description
1. MONITORING AND EVALUATION (M & E) UCDG
· Conduct UCDG impact study M & E framework using the logic model.
· Monitoring and Evaluation of UCDG projects monthly.
2. Scholarship of Teaching and learning
· Advocate a Scholarship approach to teaching and learning.
· Actively participate in SOTL research.
· Developing of research-led teaching development resources focusing on responsive pedagogies (3 workshops)
· Knowledge production and knowledge sharing about university teaching and learning.
3. Research
· Member of CTL Research committee.
· Engage in active research in the field of HE in teaching and learning.
· Support CTL directorates and staff with ethical applications.
4. Professional development of academic staff
· Plan, develop and implement professional development opportunities for academic staff e.g. workshops, webinars, conferences and one on one advise to lectures.
5. AD HOC
· Serve as member of the assessment task team and engage in activities as determined by the SPR director.
Minimum requirements
· Master in any field of study.
· 5 years’ experience as a specialist at the relevant field of teaching in higher education.
· PhD in Education
· PGDip in Education
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Advanced academic writing skill
· Knowledge and experience of the higher education context
· Advance knowledge of data analysis software and data software
· Advance research skills
· Advanced report writing skills
· Planning, organising and facilitation skills
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Good interpretation and communication skills
· Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
· Ability to work under pressure
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
