NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (MAFIKENG CAMPUS) FACULTY/ DIVISION: FINANCE AND FACILITIES POSITION NUMBER: N002626 VACANCY: JUNIOR SPACE DATA DRAUGHTING TECHNICIAN PEROMNES GRADE: P12 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: TEMPORARY FIXED-TERM APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To ensure that the NWU's core space information (Building Drawings) is up to date and in the correct required format to enable Space HEMIS reporting through the integrated work management system. To act as custodian of all HEMIS building lay-outs by drafting the required, updating or receiving and building lay-outs and ensuring safe-keeping in the space data repository.
Job description

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       CAD skills and experience (Caddy/AutoCAD)
·       Draughting basic building design and lay-outs
·       Record management of electronic data repositories
·       Able to transfer client requirements into concept plans
·       Basic MS Word knowledge
·       Advanced Excel knowledge
 
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Ability to work independently or as part of a team
·       Possess strong communication skills (English, Setswana, and Afrikaans)
·       Physically fit to conduct building audits
·       Must be able to work under pressure
·       Willing to travel to all NWU sites (Vaal, Mafikeng, Potchefstroom)

Minimum requirements

·       Diploma or certificate in Draughting is essential.


JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      CAD STANDARDS FOR HEMIS PLANS:
·       Develop and maintain CAD standards for HEMIS plans and update as required
 
2.      CORE SSPACE INFORMATION (HEMIS BUILDING LAY-OUTS):
·       Ensure that HEMIS building lay-out plans for architectural changes as a result of new construction, remodelling and refurbishments are updated.
·       Ensure final occupancy plans reflecting seat and office space assignments are up to date
·       Ensure HEMIS building lay-out plans are updated according to HEMIS guidelines
·       Perform drawing changes in accordance with system requirements.
 
3.      BUILDING AUDITS:
·       Conduct physical space audits on site to ensure current drawings are up to date.
·       Capture fixed seating lay outs in spaces.
 
4.      MAINTENANCE OF SPACE DATA:
·       Updating of space data on IWMS system
 
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
