Job description

·        Analysis of samples, microbiology, parasitology, haematology, pathology for PT and customers.
·        Management of Veterinary Laboratory and report writing.
·        Participation in laboratory accreditation process with deadlines.
·        Assist staff and students (undergraduates and postgraduates) in veterinary laboratory with practical.
·        Participate short courses.
·         Administration.    

Minimum requirements

Qualification
·        B-Tech/ BSc in Veterinary Laboratory Technology is essential.
·        MSc or equivalent in Veterinary Microbiology/Microbiology is desirable.
Experience/s
·        5 years’ experience in Veterinary microbiology, parasitology, haematology is essential.

ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
·         Accreditations in Veterinary Technologist Association is essential.
·         Registration with SAVC is essential.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Sound Knowledge and proof of veterinary laboratory microbiology, parasitology, haematology.
·        Experience in the Management of Veterinary Laboratory.
·        Proof of Participation in laboratory accreditation processes.
·        Proof of working with students in the laboratory.
·        Proof of Basic knowledge of molecular microbiology.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Ability to work with other staff and students

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
