Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
In house legal practitioner at NWU Legal Services
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Legal Advice
To University Management, Faculties, Student Structures and Line Managers Create Awareness and Training
· Legal Advice
Evaluation and recommendation for signature of judicial aspects in all NWU contracts to NWU contract owners and line functions
· Student related legal advice and contract evaluations
On behalf of the University Leadership
· Commercial and Corporate Law, Intellectual Property and other
In house legal advice and support to Director and other Legal Advisors
Minimum requirements
· LLB
· Three years’ experience as legal advisor post LLB
· Intellectual Property Law
· Membership to Legal Practice Council of South Africa
· Good negotiating skills
· Problem solving
· Research for legal opinions
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Theoretical and practical experience in civil litigation in the High and Magistrates Court.
· Theoretical and practical experience in commercial and corporate law.
· Negotiating, drafting and management of contracts.
· Formulating legal opinions to Management.
· Theoretical and practical experience in alternative dispute resolution and / or Student Discipline.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Good relationship with internal and external parties.
· Effective time management.
· Ability to work under pressure
