Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      TEACHING AND LEARNING
·       Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
2.      RESEARCH
·       Conducting research and providing supervision for honours and postgraduate students
3.      ORGANISATIONAL & MANAGEMENT TASKS
·       Assisting with management tasks

Minimum requirements

LECTURER
·       MSc in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics – Lecturer
·       3 years’ experience in Higher education teaching
·       3 years’ experience in Higher education research
 
SENIOR LECTURER
 
· Ph.D. in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics – Senior Lecturer
·       5 years’ experience in Higher education teaching
·       5 years’ experience in Higher education research
·       Experience in postgraduate supervision
 
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:
·       Membership of Subject societies like SAMS & AMS is desirable
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·       Good organisational skills
·       Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Latex)
·       Excellent leadership skills
·       Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments
·       of the NWU.
·       Preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on the interface of Functional analysis with one of the Dynamical systems or Financial Mathematics.
