Job description
1. Teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate level Operations Research and/or Statistics
2. Research in the area of expertise and publish research in accredited conference proceedings and journals
3. Participate in community engagement activities
4. Serve in professional bodies as a reviewer, editor, other committees etc.
5. Course development and curriculum
6. Prepare and conduct student assessments in allocated modules
7. Administrative duties related to the department and school’s activities
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to teach a variety of Operations Research and/or Statistics modules
- Knowledge of Statistical methods and use of Statistical software
- Ability to supervise research students at honours, masters and/or co-supervise at Phd level
- Ability to conduct basic and applied research in the field of Statistics/Operations Research
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Communication, teaching and people management skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Be able to work independently as well as in a team
Minimum requirements
- PhD/Mastersin Operations Research/ Statistics/ Related filed of specialization NQF Level 9/10 is essential/ desirable
EXPERIENCE
- Lecturer: A minimum of Two (2) years teaching/relevant industry experience plus a minimum of a research publication in an accredited journal. Conference proceedings as well as postgraduate supervision will be an added advantage.
- Senior Lecturer: Five (5) years teaching/relevant industry experience plus a minimum of two research publications in accredited journals. Conference proceedings as well as postgraduate supervision will be an added advantage.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
