Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Teaching and Learning
Facilitate face to face and remote online teaching to undergraduate and post graduate students. Support achievement of the faculty throughput rate.
· Research and Innovation
Conduct research as an individual and a member of a team. Supervise honours students successfully thus contributing to the increase of research output
· Community Engagement
Engage communities in pursuit of social justice and link this to research and teaching and learning.
· Administration
Lead and manage at the subject and school level. Serve the university through committees and forums.
Minimum requirements
• Masters in History is essential
• 1 Year Teaching and Learning experience in a University context is essential
• 1 Year record of academic publishing is essential
• Significant progress towards completion of a PHD is essential
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Supervise postgraduate research.
• Develop quality undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
• Competent administrative skills pertaining to research and teaching.
• Knowledge of current higher education teaching approaches.
• Online learning platform competency.
• Conduct independent historical research and publish in reputable, highly-cited journals
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
• Communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be able to work well with a diverse group of colleagues, students and other university stakeholders
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
