Introduction
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The incumbent to play a leading role in the research conducted in the School Industrial Engineering specifically in Operations research with knowledge and experience in decision support systems like data analytics, machine learning, neural networks etc.
Job description
Responsibilities:
1. Teaching &Learning:
- Lecture typical Industrial Engineering modules, assist with Final year projects.
2. Research:
- Quality research that is of interest to the school of Industrial Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering.
3. Implementation/Commercialisation:
- Ensure the commercial implementation of research results Involvement in community projects.
4. Management:
- Involvement in the management of the school.
Minimum requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Industrial Engineering (essential)
- Proven lecturer and researcher (NRF Rating) (desirable)
- Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) (desirable)
- Professional Society of relevance (essential)
- 10 years lecturing experience (essential)
- 10 years research experience (essential)
Functional/Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills):
- Competent in Industrial Engineering subjects for teaching/learning purposes.
- Competent in relevant Industrial Engineering computer packages.
- Competent in Industrial Engineering research.
Behavioural Competencies:
- Must be able to interact with undergraduate and postgraduate students
