PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Appointing an Associate Professor to contribute towards undergraduate and post graduate teaching, practice supervision of students and research supervision of post graduate students in the subject group Social Work.

FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
- Ability and experience to work from an evidence-based approach in social work.
- Excellent communication skills (verbally and written).
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft office, e-mails, power point, software for data analysis).
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
- Ability to use e-media for teaching, studying and communication.
- The ability to work well independently as well as in a team.
- Good time management and ability to work well under pressure.
Minimum requirements
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Minimum requirements:
- A PhD in Social Work (NQF Level 10) (Associate Professor)
- A Masters in Social Work (NQF Level 9)
- Professional registration at SACSSP
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Teaching and Learning with blended contact sessions with university students.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Research and innovation with a stable publication record and supervision of post graduate students towards graduation.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a generic Social Work with direct practice and/or Social Work supervisory/ managerial experience.
SENIOR LECTURER
Minimum requirements:
- A Masters in Social Work (NQF Level 9)
- Professional registration at SACSSP
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Teaching and Learning with blended contact sessions with university students.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Research and innovation with at least 2 publications and supervision of post graduate students towards graduation.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a generic Social Work with direct practice and/or Social Work supervisory/ managerial experience.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
