Purpose of the position: This position is central to ensuring record and asset management within the HS Ethics Office, which due to the strong legal requirements in place governing research ethics nationally, is a mission critical function. The person will be responsible for acting as personal assistant to the Head of the Ethics Office, facilitating communication between the Ethics office and the larger Faculty of Health Sciences, maintenance of the Ethics Office webpage, maintenance of internal electronic systems as set up within the Ethics Office, handling administration related to financial management, managing the record and asset management systems of the office, advanced formatting of documents, as well as making all travel arrangements necessitated by the functions in the office.
Job description
Functional/Technical competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
· Knowledge of the university system, faculty functioning, research units and various other functions within the university system
· Database and record management
· Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and GroupWise)
· Excellent verbal and written language skills in English and to function in a diverse language environment

· Ability to work in an environment with high stress and conflict inflicted situations
· Ability to be innovative and work in a fast changing and dynamic environment
· Effective time management of a high work load and rapid changes

Minimum requirements
· National certificate (matric)
· 2 years’ experience in office administration
· 2 years’ experience in handling of finances
· 2 years’ experience in management of information technology
