Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The system coordinator is the formally appointed link between the functional area experts (FAE) (business) across different business areas in the Finance and Facilities environment and IT (internal or external) to ensure that the systems functionally support business. The purpose of the position is to functionally support and coordinate all systems (medium to large ERP systems) across one or more business areas in the Finance and Facilities environment effectively. The position requires special/expert knowledge or skills of the ecosystem across business areas and campuses as well as business processes to be able to systematically and methodically identify or analyse business needs, shortcomings, or enhancements and to timely determine and propose effective solutions as well as the implementation thereof. These solutions often include configuration, systems development (low code programming), process improvement and alignment, documentation of functional requirements, and ensuring best practices. Testing of solutions, user support, training of FAEs, creation of reports, and monitoring of integration between systems are also responsibilities associated with the position. To collaborate with different stakeholders from all domains and technical resources (IT) to ensure business requirements are met and proposed solutions serve the NWU ultimately.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Functional support of processes, procedures, and practices according to approved requirements, standards, and methodologies;
  • Operational management (system administration);
  • Stakeholder engagement (Functional coordination);
  • Projects - participate, coordinate, plan, liaise with projects in the Facilities & Financial environment to meet and implement the desired outcomes and timelines;
  • Consultation & facilitation regarding system changes to clients (Change Management); and
  • Compliance, System Security and License utilisation.




Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting/IT/Information Systems (NQF 6 or 7)
  • At least Accounting 1
  • NQF level 7 - 3 years of experience or
  • NQF level 6 - 5 years of experience
  • Strong functional knowledge of systems and processes as well as the integration with other systems (Operational and Technical at advanced specialist level)
  • Functional knowledge – Financial & Facilities related systems and University procedures & processes (Advanced)
  • Understand and speak to all aspects of solution development (requirements, analysis, design, development (low code programming), testing, implementation, deployment, support and documentation) and implementation (Advanced)
 
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
  • Excel spreadsheets & Word processing (Advanced)
  • Report writing (low code)
  • Proven operational business knowledge and experience
  • Customer consultation experience is recommended (ability to express business requirements in language a developer will understand, and vice versa)
  • Knowledge of issue and task tracking system (JIRA), QA principles, including test plans, test cases, and functional testing
  • Ability to think critically about current and desired future practices and processes
  • Ability to learn new applications
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills are recommended
  • Knowledge of project management is recommended
  • Must be able to work on simultaneous projects across different environments and meet multiple deadlines
  • Good numeracy skills
