Job description

North-West University emphasise generating novel knowledge and the implementation thereof towards improvement of citizenry’s lives. Collaboration with various sectors including but not limited to the private and public sectors nationally and internationally have led to globally noteworthy research outputs that contribute significantly to scholarly content and industry at large.

 

‘Global Initiative Forefront Talent’ also known as GIFT, the talent management research unit in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, has a fixed-term (2-year) vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher. The applicant is expected to work on research projects related to one or more of the following focus areas, namely talent acquisition, onboarding and integration, performance management, talent development, succession planning and retention. The applicant will be based at the Mahikeng Campus with the aim to increase research outputs in the mentioned focal areas. The fixed-term position can be extended for another year depending on the exceptional quality of the scholarly outputs. NWU offers a stimulating working environment, and the successful applicant will be exposed to skills development initiatives and skills transfer opportunities.

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in securing research project funding and journal article publication in one or more of the focus areas which could potentially be multidisciplinary in nature including aspects related to economics, transport management or accounting.

Minimum requirements

  • PhD in Human Resources Management (or related discipline) obtained in the last 1-2 years.
  • Demonstrate experience in publication of talent management research in the selected focus areas.
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

A panel of competent researchers will remotely interview applicants that adhere to the criteria. The duration of the position is two-years (possible extension for an additional year), commencing on the 1st April 2024 (or based on agreement and the necessary documentation). The salary is in accordance with the university salary determination.
