KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Preparation
· Preparation of food for dining halls and functions.
Quality and portion control
· Ensure quality and portion control during the food preparation and the serving process.
Occupational Health and Safety
· Adhere to health and safety procedures.
Communication
· Good communication with colleagues, students, and clients.
Personal development
· Development of the own person and staying abreast of new technology.
Ad-hoc tasks
· Perform ad hoc tasks.
Minimum requirements
· Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) or an equivalent qualification.
· A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in bulk food preparation in a large catering environment.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
· Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· The ability to prepare bulk food in a large catering environment.
· Knowledge of occupational health & safety procedures.
· Knowledge of cleaning procedures of large equipment.
· Knowledge regarding quality and portion control.
· Knowledge of the handling and use of equipment in a food service unit.
· The ability to read, understand and implement recipes.
· The ability to lift heavy items.
· The ability to read and write.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Willingness to work irregular hours.
· Good communication skills and the ability to function under pressure.
· The ability to work as part of a team.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
