Job description

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Advanced knowledge of general biochemistry and human-related molecular
· Proven competency in basic molecular and techniques such as western plotting
· Experience with advanced molecular biology techniques, specifically CRISPR/Cas9 and siRNA techniques
· Ability to lecture introductory and advanced biochmisrty on a tertiary level with a specific inclination towards teaching molecular biology.
· Capacity to learn various teaching philosophies and the ability to flawlessly adapt teaching and learning approaches when required.
· Excellent computer skills for teaching and learning, administration and research dissemination
· Language proficient in a multi-lingual environment
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

Minimum requirements

• A PhD (NQF level 10) in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.
• A minimum of 5 years’ Teaching and Learning experience.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in post-graduate supervision and training.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as active researcher (evident by progressing H-index or NRF rating).

REMUNERATION: The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
