Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Psychometric & Psychological Assessments of children, adolescents, and adults.
2.      Counselling and/or Psychotherapy.
3.      Trauma, HIV, Psycho-Legal & Community matters.
4.      Internship training programme and supervision.
5.      Ethical and professional matters.
6.      Practice management and entrepreneurial matters.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  •     Year one of a 2-year MA/MSc in Counselling Psychology completed (NQF level 9)
  •     Registered with HPCSA as an Intern Psychologist.
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
  •     Psychological assessment of clients using HPCSA recognized psychometric instruments.
  •     Ability to conduct case presentations and multi-disciplinary groups discussions.
  •     Attendance of individual and group supervision on a weekly basis.
  •     Client or case relevant research (i.e. diagnostic or therapeutic information) and theoretical conceptualization.
  •     Administrative responsibilities.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
  •     Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
  •     The ability to work well independently and also in a team.
  •     Referent letter from Supervisor is essential when applying.
