Introduction: NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (POTCHEFSTROOM CAMPUS) FACULTY: HEALTH SCIENCES VACANCY: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW: TRANSDERMAL AND TOPICAL DRUG DELIVERY RESEARCH (PHARMACEN™) Purpose of the position: Research and collaboration within the Research Group: Solid-state Pharmaceutical Innovation and Nanotechnology (SPIN). This research group forms part of the sub-programme: Drug Delivery that forms part of the Centre of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacen™), within the Faculty of Health Sciences, NWU, situated on the Potchefstroom campus. This fellowship will be in collaboration with Dr. Righard Lemmer which has a strong research focus in solid-state properties of pharmaceuticals, nano-formulations, data analytics.
Job description

Minimum Requirements:
  •     PhD degree in Pharmaceutics.
  •     Operation and experience in equipment and techniques used in Pharmaceutics like HPLC, viscosity, zeta potential, TAM, transdermal, dissolution, formulation. 
  •     Evidence of Ethics training, ability to work according to GLP.
  •     Proven evidence of own publications.
Responsibilities:
  •     Writing of scientific publications on own research and on available data.
  •     Publish internationally.
  •     Collaborate in established projects.
  •     Supervision of postgraduate students.
  •     Conduct own research.
  •     Technical assistance with some of the specialised equipment.
  •     Calibration and verification of the instruments.
  •      Assist in constructing and maintaining large datasets for machine learning applications.

Functional/Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)
  •     PhD-degree (Pharmaceutics).
  •     Good technical writing skills, good problem-solving skills and computer literacy (with regards to software used in research group).
  •     Ability to work according to GLP, together with proven knowledge of and experience in laboratory safety and biological waste management.
Behavioural Competencies
  •     Ability to co-supervise students.
  •     Experience in proposal writing and willing to collaborate in funding applications.
  •     Self-motivated individual, which is able to work independently and as a team member.
  •     Ability to apply good time management and has a driven attitude with regard to research outputs.
