Job description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead space and infrastructure investigations for the NWU 3 Year Infrastructure Plan (Electrical and Mechanical)
· Lead infrastructure request investigations to determine user requirements for electrical and mechanical requests. Complete concept drawings and recommend cost effective solutions in initiation reports.
· Conduct investigations for minor building works / minor unscheduled projects and compile initiation reports
Business Cases
· Coordinate the project team for the Business Case phase to deliver signed-off scope of work reports, concept drawings, project budgets and project charters) for larger capital projects.
· Complete and Present Business Cases to the Facilities Task Team to recommend projects for inclusion in the 3 Year Infrastructure Plan
· Provide progress reports to direct manager
Strategic Space and Infrastructure Planning
· Provide inputs into strategic space planning activities such as the revision of the NWU spatial master development plan by providing information
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Able to understand requirements for infrastructure and spaces
· Space Planning capabilities
· Doing basic concept designs for electrical or mechanical systems
· Good verbal communication and report writing skills.
· Computer Literacy: MS Excel
· CAD software capabilities
· Compile basic cost estimates
· Compiling basic project budgets
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Enthusiastic team player with positive social and interpersonal skills
· Able to work independently without direct supervision
· Pro-active and innovative problem solver
· The ability to liaise internally and externally on different levels.
· Ability to lead professional teams if required
Minimum requirements
· A Bachelors degree (NQF Level 7) in Planning/Built Environment (with specialisation in Electrical or Mechanical Design)
· A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in office planning.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
