Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To manage the Soccer Institute team and to prepare the players for competitions.
To present players with the required training and exercise programmes essential for success.
To support the growth and development of players by facilitating the presentation of life skills development programmes for the team to
ensure their holistic growth and development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching and Administration:
- Prepare the team for all competitions through the forming of a supportive technical team, in consultation with the Soccer Institute Manager, and the analysis of performance and the preparation of strategic game plans.
Player Assessment:
- Evaluate team and player performance through game analysis and regular monitoring of physical assessment levels.
Recruitment of Players:
- Manage the recruitment of new players through the implementation of a recruitment programme.
- Identification of talented players in respect of positional shortages and the releasing of players that do not meet prescribed standards.
Community Outreach:
- Implement the Soccer Institute outreach community programmes by providing community support in the form of coaching and training sessions.
- Initiate a senior school tournament and include teams in the internal league that can be beneficial for recruitment.
- Present relevant workshops.
Representation and Liaison with Key Stakeholders:
- Create working relationships with local, regional and national federations through the registration of the team with the relevant soccer structures.
- Attend all meetings associated with the Soccer Institute and affiliated structures.
- Represent players on league disciplinary matters, where required.
Facilitation of Skills Development:
- Organise and facilitate the presentation of the development of life skills programme to ensure the holistic development of players, beyond soccer.
Facilities management:
- Manage the use of facilities by ensuring that the fields are available and prepared for competition and practice sessions.
- Ensure that maintenance concerns are reported timeously, and that the required training equipment is properly managed.
Minimum requirements
- A Coaching Certificate (CAF Level B).
- A minimum of two (2) years’ coaching experience at SAFA league or equivalent structures.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
- A Diploma in Sports (NQF level 6).
- A minimum of three (3) years’ coaching experience at University level / USSA / Varsity Sport / Equivalent.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Computer literacy.
- Report writing skills.
- Communication skills.
- Leadership skills.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Decision maker.
- Hard worker.
- Energetic.
- Available to work over-time, mostly weekends, given the nature of Soccer as a sporting code.
- Understands the NWU Values.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
