Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

1.Teaching and Learning:

 Teaching a range of Greek and New Testament modules on undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additional teaching in other modules as required by the faculty from time to time, including but not limited to Ancient Cultures and Classical Studies.

2. Research:

Demonstrate continuous research activity in line with the strategic planning of the chosen research entity.

3. Community engagement:

 Be able to link teaching and research to meaningful engagement within the community in a context of choice.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.           Teaching and Learning including higher degree supervision

2.           Pesonal research and innovation

3.           Academic leadership, management and administration

4.           Social responsiveness and industry involvement

5.           Occupational Health and Safety

6.           Community engagement

Minimum requirements

                          A Phd (NQF level 10) in  Biblical Greek.

                          A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in teaching and research

 

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

                          Good communicator.

                          Good command of the English and/or Afrikaans languages.

                          Knowledge of any other official languages of South Africa, especially Setswana are an added advantage.

                          Have intelligent foresight and an ability to adapt to a changing environment.

                          Be able to adopt new skills.

 

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

                          Ability to work in a team and contribute to good relations among staff members.

                          Good interpersonal skills and respect for fellow staff members.

 

 

REMUNERATION:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
