Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To act as TL Integrity coordinator for the NWU by providing academic guidance and continued support for TL Integrity at the NWU. This entails the implementation of the TLI SOP during Semester 2 of 2023, and further continuous professional development for staff and training and support for students in upholding TL integrity at the NWU going forth in 2024 onwards. 
 
With the SOP for teaching and learning that is implemented from the second semester 2023, support is needed for the training of staff and students, front desk support on eFundi (LMS) for the online remedial courses, and for the AIITSA usage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Front desk eFundi support for the AIROCS (online remedial courses):
  • Contact person for students and staff for support on eFundi with the completion and assessments of AIROCs.
  • Continuous development of AIROCS, solving eFundi and AIROC problems as needed.
2.    Consultant support for the use of AIITSA (IT provide back desk support):
  • Contact person for students and staff, and faculty integrity committees, for support to use AIITSA.
  • Communication between the AIROCS on eFundi and back-desk support by IT.
  • Continuous development of AIITSA with IT.
3.    Faculty specific support for AIITSA and AIROCs:
  • Advisory role of setting up of faculty committees on AIITSA and affect changes as needed.
  • Providing integrity data for faculty committees according to faculty ToR (e.g., for Faculty TLC meetings).
4.    Access, data, and security management of AIITSA:
  • Provide and manage secure access to approved members of committees and chairs of committees as needed.
  • Ensure data is secured and managed according to POPIA.
  • Provide evidence and data to SJS as needed.
  • Communication to SJS and further evidence gathering from AIITSA as needed.
5.    Training of students, staff and faculty committees (in collaboration with CTL):
  • Training of students, staff and faculty committees for the use of AIITSA, AIROCs, the SOP and the Academic Integrity Policy.
  • Development of training material and training of staff (CPD) and students for the SOP, AIITSA and AIROCS.
  • Training of faculty committees and review committees as needed to use AIITSA and do their SOP tasks.
6.    Specialised academic integrity research and support:
  • Participate in research in collaboration with academics on Academic Integrity in the TL context to provide specialised guidance and support to the NWU.
  • Do desk-top research on Artificial Intelligence and prevention and detection in this regard.
  • Lead the development of a SLP and CPDs for academic integrity and presentation of it (e.g., interpretation of Turnitin).
7.    Liaison work:
  • Act as TL Integrity coordinator for the NWU.
  • Liaise with all structures within and outside the NWU to ensure academic integrity is developed and supported in all aspects.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·         A B.Ed honours degree (NQF level 8) in Curriculum Studies or Education Law or Education Management.
·         A minimum of 1 year experience in the use of eFundi, Turn-it-In and other related integrity solutions as a lecturer or teaching assistant.
·         A minimum of 6 years’ experience and/or exposure to administrative systems and processes at the NWU at assistant / administrative level.

RECOMMENDATION:
·         A Masters’ degree (NQF level 9) in Curriculum Studies or Education Law or Education Management.
·         A minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·         In-depth knowledge of academic integrity processes and policies of the NWU.
·         A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students’ educational development and wellbeing.
·         Knowledge of modern LMS platforms (e.g. whiteboard technology, eFundi, etc.) to enhance the ongoing changing of the learning and collaboration environment.
·         Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance and academic integrity.
·         Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), email and internet
·         Willingness to in collaboration with academics, participate in the conducting and publishing of peer-reviewed, accredited academic research, as well as to present findings at conferences, in the field of Academic Integrity in Higher Education.
·         Ability to administer online support, involving large numbers of students.
·         Relevant leadership and management experience.
·         Staying abreast of developments in Artificial Intelligence and its implications for TL.

·         Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU.
·         The ability to function well individually and as part of a team/subject group.
·         Effective time-management skills.

·         A high level of professional and ethical conduct.
· Being able to work under pressure.

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
