Teaching and Learning
· Teaching and development of Integrated Pest Management (CSPP311) and Crop Protection (CSPP321).
· Study leading of Honours level 4th year research projects.
· Supervision of MSc and PhD students.
Research
· Complete PhD if not yet done.
· Publish in DHET accredited peer reviewed journals.
· Attend and present at local and international conferences.
Management
· Library representative for PC Agriculture.
· Scientific committee for MSc and PhD students.
Community Service
· Peer review of journal articles.
· Active member of discipline society.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Experience in teaching at least one of the major components of Crop Protection (Weed Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology). Experience in Agronomy will be advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience in the teaching and application of Intergrated Pest Management.
- Research in the fields Crop Protection and Intergated Pest Management and a proven puplication record.
- Experience in project management.
- A demonstrated ability to attract research funding.
- Working in multi-cultural environment.
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Good inter-personal relationships.
- Ability to execute efective time management.
- Working as part of a team.

Minimum requirements
· A Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Weed Science/Nematology/Plant Pathology/Entimology or relevant field.
Lecturer
· A minimum of one (1) year research experience.
· A minimum of one (1) year interaction with organised/commercial agriculture.
Senior Lecturer
· A minimum of two (2) years’ research experience.
· A minimum of two (2) years’ interaction with organised/commercial agriculture.
Associate Professor
· A minimum of three (3) years’ research experience.
· A minimum of three (3) years’ interaction with organised/commercial agriculture.
ADDED ADVANTAGES & PREFERENCES:
· A minimum of one (1) year teaching experience.
· A minimum of one (1) year experience in academic management.
· A minimum of one (1) year experience in agricultural discipline.
· Accreditation with SACNASP.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
