PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: A Junior Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
Job description
Teaching & learning
- Teaching and learning processes for the distance as well as the on-campus mode of delivery.
Research
- Completion of in MEd Economics and Business Studies for Education within reasonable time after appointment or relevant MEd specialisation in Economics and Business Studies for Education is necessary.
Community Engagement
- Engage in community projects/sharing of expertise within the community.
Administration
- Performing general administration tasks at programme and module level.
Minimum requirements
- BEd Honours Economics Education and Business Studies in Education is essential or a relevant BEd Honours focusing Educational Management Leadership or Curriculum accompanied by an Undergraduate focusing on Economics and Business Studies for Education related field.
- BCom Hons Economics & PGCE or any other relevant education qualification is essential
- Accreditations with any education related professional bodies is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
- 2 – 5 years' experience in development of teaching and learning material within the Economics and Business Studies education in higher education or high school environments
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):
- Undertake undergraduate teaching and learning
- Experience in teaching and learning material development
- Experience in designing quality assessment
- Scholarly knowledge in Economics and Business Studies Education
- In possession of subject specific methodology of teaching and learning
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
