Job description

Additive Manufacturing 

The Additive Manufacturing Research Group within the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty School of Engineering is looking for qualified candidates to apply for a post-doctoral fellow position in additive manufacturing. Potential candidates should be highly motivated, self-driven and able to independently conduct high-quality research. The incumbent must be able to write technical research reports, publish findings in DHET-accredited peer-reviewed journals and/or conferences and also carry out other tasks as delegated (e.g., undergraduate and/or postgraduate supervision / co-supervision etc.).

Minimum requirements

  • Ph.D. in mechanical or metallurgical and materials engineering.
  • Record of publications.
  • Hands-on expertise in materials characterization, testing and postprocessing.
  • Knowledge in computational modelling and simulation will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communications skills and team-work ability.
