KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Innovation
· Conduct own research and publication and maintain academic scholarship.
· Conduct and supervise research projects as required.
· Support engaged research in the faculty.
Teaching and Learning
· Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses as required.
· Manage and partake in student communication and support activities.
Community Engagement
· Participate in community engagement activities.
Management
· Develop, initiate and drive research proposals for external funding.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Proven track record of successfully applying for postgraduate student bursaries and/or research funding.
· Research interest and proven track record of research excellence in one of the research focus areas of the CSR.
· Excellent computer skills.
· Demonstrable language proficiency.
· Knowledge of the higher education landscape.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Sound interpersonal relationship skills.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Team-oriented and reliable.
· Willing to take on administrative and leadership duties.
Minimum requirements
· A Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Space Physics, Astronomy or related field.
· A proven track record of active research excellence.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
· A minimum of one (1) year undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience.
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
