Job description

The School of Management Sciences on the Mahikeng Campus, in collaboration with the research entity WorkWell, within the faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the North-west University has a two-year position for a post-doctoral research fellow to initiate and execute research projects. The applicant will be based at the Mahikeng Campus with the aim of increasing research outputs.

The North-West University offers a stimulating working environment, and the successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and vibrant team. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in securing research project funding and article publishing. The appointment can be extended for a third year if the scholarly output is exceptional. In addition to research outputs, the successful candidate will mentor postgraduate candidates in support of supervisors and form part of the school and faculty research operations.

Minimum requirements

Requirements:
  • PhD in Business Management or Marketing Management (or related discipline) obtained in the last five years, with expertise and research outputs related to business management, strategic management, entrepreneurship, SMMEs and competitiveness OR marketing management, strategic marketing, digital marketing, and branding.
  • Proven track record of publications in high quality journals (preferably DHET accredited journals).
  • Evidence of a previous or a funded research projects will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
A panel of researchers will remotely interview applicants who adhere to the criteria. The appointment is from 1 November 2023 (or based on agreement).

Inclusions:
A stipend is per the university’s post-doctoral fellowship position scale (R240 000 pa, tax-free). The successful candidate will receive a dedicated office near the post-doctoral mentors and School of Management Sciences staff members. The post-doctoral fellow office will have all amenities necessary for generating research outputs.
The School of Management Sciences and the NWU are not responsible for arranging or paying accommodation, personal travel, or other expenses not part of the post-doctoral fellow agreement.

  • Two most recent published articles (peer reviewed in reputable journals).
