KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Reactive Maintenance
· Manage the IWMSsystem.
o Verify that within Engineering Compliance, systems and processes are in place and maintained to ensure reactive maintenance is completed within time. Ensure the users are kept up to date regarding the status and progress of reactive maintenance
· Develop and review departmental procedures and Maintenance plans
o Coordinate and lead process for the development of Maintenance plans and include them into the IWMS system. Manage an d update these plans and include all plans to allow for alignment. Regularly audit plans and ensure compliance with especially statutory required work.
2. Preventative Maintenance
· Oversees Contract activity
o Oversees contract activities in order to ensure compliance with the NWU procurement policy and other applicable authority, regulations, statues, directives, and policies and procedures within Infrastructure. Verify all SLA are in place and extended or procured and included in the IWMS system as required.
· Procurement compliance
o Ensures compliance with all statutory requirements pertaining to Infrastructure; ensures all internal control and procedures are in place for Contract Administration and Service provider management such as budget control and record keeping.
· Preventative Maintenance plans
o Ensure that all required preventative maintenance plans are in place maintained and updated as required. Report and control all preventative work and recommend and update. Include in IWMS and report.
3. IWMS System
· Include all Preventative work in the IWMS system and ensure the automation of the plans and scheduled work. Link the Preventative plans to the SLA and Bill of Quantities.
Minimum requirements
· A relevant Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Electricity or Mechanics.
· A postgraduate (NQF 8) Management qualification.
· A minimum of 5 years' Management experience.
· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance and operations in wide range of engineering equipment and facilities.
. A minimum of 5 years' technical experience related to field of experise.
ADDED ADVANTAGES
· CMMS system experience (setup and use of IWMS systems and reporting via such systems).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Proactive: A honed alertness and vigilance to potential breaches in compliance. This means actively enforcing a mandatory reporting policy and seeking out any weakness in maintenance.
· Intelligent and willing to keep learning: Engineering field are subject to constantly changing legislation, so staying on top of things is vital and inclusion of the Infrastructure Workplace Management systems.
· Diligent: Even when it becomes a hassle, a Maintenance manager must be willing to see an issue through to resolution. Inclusion of any new legislative requirement or amend preventative plans continuously.
· Practical knowledge in ensuring compliances to legal requirements relating to maintenance.
· Ability to lead groups in prepare planning schedules with measurable intermediate goals.
· Good verbal communication and report-writing skills.
· Computer Literacy: MS Excel and specialized programmes like IWMS applicable to function.
· Practical knowledge in procurement
· Ensure Alignment on all campuses.

REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
