KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Activities
· Performing sample reception duties according to the official SOP.
· Administration of Laboratory Information Management System.
· Receiving and processing.
· Logging and attaching paperwork.
· Reviewing.
· Scanning and attaching (ADAMs Tool).
· Filing of paperwork received.
· Aliquoting of biological material.
· Mail correspondence.
· Routing checks at the end of the day.
· Monitoring fridge temperatures.
· National and International sample send-aways.
· Continuous personal training and development.
· Receiving and administering telephonic enquiries.
· Editing of information received on the Laboratory Information Management System.
Accreditation
· Maintenance and continuous quality system improvements (ISO/IEC 15189) as per manager instruction.
Ad-hoc tasks
· As directed by manager.
Occupational Health and Safety
· Adhering to all OHS applicable legislation as well as NWU policies and guidelines.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Knowledge of International Standard (ISO 15189).
· Awareness of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
· Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
· General knowledge about the POPI Act.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· Good telephone etiquette.
· Be able to function in a multi-cultural environment.
· Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
· Ability to work under pressure.
Minimum requirements
· Grade 12 (NQF level 4).
· A minimum of 2 years’ administrative experience.
· A minimum of 2 years’ client service experience.
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with LIMS system.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
· A minimum of 1-year biological sample aliquoting.
· A minimum of 2 years' experience receiving patient/biological samples will be a major advantage.
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
