Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To coordinate and support the MC student development activities. To support SI, Peer Mentoring and Academic Advising. The Candidate will also need to support research in the field of higher education and teaching, lend a hand in scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL). They also need to be part of the Team that advice and offer academic support for all students and offer innovative support to improve retention and student success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate SI
- Attend the meetings involved SI.
- Give input during the whole SADS meetings.
Offer Academic Advising to Students
- Administer and support all students.
Disciplinary Literacies Programme Coordination
- Offer support as a member.
Ad Hoc
- As determined by Line manager.
Minimum requirements
- A Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Education, or related field (NQF level 6).
- A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a specialist in a relevant field of Teaching, Learning and Research in a higher education institution.
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
- A PGDip/Master’s/PhD degree (NQF level 8/9/10) in Education.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ teaching experience as a specialist in a relevant field of Teaching, Learning and Research in a higher education institution.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Advanced academic writing skill.
- Knowledge and experience of the higher education context.
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis software and data software.
- Advanced report writing skills.
- Planning, organisation, and facilitation skills.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Good interpretation and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to work under pressure.
