Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the organisation of corporate and sport events, aimed at profiling and building the brand of the NWU, while sharing developments taking place at the University with internal and external stakeholders.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Events coordination and Stakeholder engagement
- Attend briefing meetings with clients (internal and external) to understand their event requests. Willingness to travel nationally, internationally and work outside office hours to accommodate evening events.
- Work with the team leader and clients to take care of events logistics for corporate and sport events.
- Provide event and protocol guidance and support to faculties and departments.
- Compilation of event checklist to ensure tasks are tracked and executed on time.
- Create and maintain an updated database to support stakeholders’ engagements.
2. Enhance and promote the NWU profile (Brand awareness)
- Ensure there is branding material at all events.
- Ensure events related material such as invitations comply with the brand manual.
- Identify creative ways to strengthen the NWU brand through events.
3. Administration and teamwork
- Record keeping of events documents according to the NWU’s record management policy.
- Attend to ad-hoc projects as assigned by management.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF7) in Communications/Public Relations/Marketing or other applicable degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years operational experience in events and organisation.
- A minimum of four (4) years operational experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders.
- A minimum of three (3) years operational experience in using events to strengthen brands.
ADDED ADVANTAGES:
- MACE, PRISA AND IABC Membership.
- A minimum of two (2) years operational experience in organising sport events.
- A minimum of two (2) years operational experience in the Higher Education sector.
- Valid driver’s licence.
