Purpose of the position:
To facilitate and execute all organizational design and development processes, procedures and interventions as well as change management and diversity interventions. To facilitate organizational development interventions and solutions that increases the effectiveness of the organization and enables employee engagement in order to empower the business to achieve its strategic objectives. Facilitate with all culture interventions, and to build a culture driven environment within the university.
Job description
Strategy implementation
- Contribute to the design, development and facilitation of the execution of the NWU organizational development strategy
- Contribute in strategically positioning organizational initiatives in the organization, in support of the achievement of strategic organizational development management and organizational objectives
- Strategically position and facilitate the marketing and promotion of the NWU organizational development and related service offerings to the organization
- Develop, review, maintain and disseminate policy and procedures related to organizational development management
- Deliver holistic organizational development solutions
Organizational Design
- Facilitate the design and the implementation of the NWU competency framework and the maintenance thereof from an organizational development perspective
- Execute organizational design processes and stakeholder engagements to facilitate the implementation of the NWU operating model and structure across campuses
- Maintain and implement position profiles aligned to NWU strategy, levels of work, competencies and NWU job structure and frameworks
- Facilitate organizational structure sign-off, publish and update and design processes to effectively manage this
- Continuous research on best practice organization design from a system and design perspective
Process Mapping
- Facilitate the business process models fundamentals and encourage process reviews and mapping in order to enhance organizational efficiency from an organizational development perspective and achieve business improvement
- Partner with the HR team in initiating and improving the effective delivery of people and culture solutions, such as process modelling and mapping while integrating and sharing best practices
- Engage with clients in process orientation and other organizational development initiatives in a client centric manner, providing authoritative expertise and advise to clients and stakeholders
Job Evaluation
- Develop and maintain the job evaluation policy and guidelines
- Develop, review and maintain NWU job evaluation system and grade structure
- Evaluate and grade all new jobs as per the system rules and approved processes and principles
- Re-evaluate and grade all jobs where substantive functions are added or removed (approved changes/restructuring)
- Develop a NWU grade matrix/ report including job structure reports
- Supply job grades for matching and benchmarking committee to assist in the facilitation of the annual pay review process
- Establish and manage the job matching and benchmarking committee to assist in the facilitation of the annual remuneration review process
Change Management
- Ensure involvement in the change process and identify stakeholders and the possible effects of the change programmes that is of interest to the stakeholder
- The ability to analyze the business changing circumstances and the ability to identify and suggest interventions to address the internal requirements and external changes
- Execution of the administrative process concerning the change process
- Coach, advise and provide adequate tools to leaders, in order to successfully lead and change their environment
- Effectively use diagnostic tools and monitor business results to determine the success of interventions and to design new interventions
- Encourage organizational innovation, change agility and collaboration within the team and the organization
Culture and Climate
- Facilitate the use of appropriate work cultures, designs and appropriate leadership models
- Execute the administrative process of all the climate and culture assessments
- Interpret, analyze, model and report results
- Assist with the implementation of corrective interventions to drive the transformation agenda
- Represent the NWU at internal and External identified forums, to facilitate change in NWU’s transformation journey
- Facilitate organizational development interventions in order to effectively manage conflict, build teams, create change agility and build a culture that is aligned to business values

- Keep abreast of trends, legislation and best practices with the organizational development field
Minimum requirements
- B degree NQF Level 7 in Human Resources/Industrial and Organizational Psychology and related fields.
- A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in Organizational Development.
Desirable (Strong Recommendations):
- Honors degree NQF Level 8 in Human Resources/Industrial and Organizational Psychology and related fields.
- Registration with SABPP
- Higher Education experience will serve as a strong recommendation
