Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the subject group at undergraduate and postgraduate levels – in distance and contact modes.

Programme Development

  • Development of new modules and study material in Learner Support in the different programmes offered.

Research and Supervision

  • Research and postgraduate supervision in the field of Learner Support, with appropriate publications.

Work integrated learning.

  • Community Engagement
  • Administrative Tasks

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A PhD in Learner Support or equivalent (NQF 10).
  • A Professional Teacher’s Qualification (NQF 6-8).
  • Two accredited publications
  • One successfully delivered higher degree student

ADDED ADVANTAGES

  • Professional registration with SACE.
  • Two years’ teaching and learning (full-time or part-time) experience at university level.
  • Two years’ experience in a learner support practice delivering learner support services.

Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge and Skills)

  • Knowledge of teaching in different modes of delivery
  • Computer proficient – command of Word, Power point and Excel. Experience of Efundi will be beneficial.
  • Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Good interpersonal relations
  • The ability to work with large groups of people.
  • Ability to adhere to timelines and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written and use of technology)
  • Language skills in order to function in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
