PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Functional operation in Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, Community Engagement and leadership in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences.

Minimum requirements
§ A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Biochemistry.
§ A minimum of 2 years’ of teaching and learning experience.
§ A minimum of 2 years’ in developing scientific procedures and techniques used in a biochemistry laboratory.
RECOMMENDATIONS / ADDED ADVANTAGES:
§ A PhD (NQF level 10) in Biochemistry.
§ A minimum of 2 years’ experience in post-graduate mentoring and training.
§ Registration with the South African Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SASBMB).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
§ Advanced knowledge of general biochemistry and human-related molecular
§ Proven competency in basic molecular and techniques such as DNA isolation PCR and Western blotting
§ Ability to lecture introductory and advanced biochemistry on a tertiary level with a specific inclination towards teaching molecular biology and clinical Biochemistry
§ Capacity to learn various teaching philosophies and the ability to flawlessly adapt teaching and learning approaches when required
§ Excellent computer skills for teaching and learning, administration and research dissemination
§ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
§ Good communication skills (verbal and written)
§ Ability to function as part of the team and also in a multicultural environment
§ Ability to work effectively under pressure
§ Good time management
REMUNERATION:
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
