PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The incumbent should be available to play a leading role lecturing within the School of Chemical and Minerals Engineering as well as research conducted under the Centre for Excellence in Carbon based fuels.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching/Learning:
- Lecture typical Chemical Engineering modules, assist with the project and design modules of 4th year students.
Implementation/ Commercialization:
- Ensure the commercial implementation of research results in community involvement projects.
Research:
- Research conducted on critical minerals, emissions control, or environmental protection to ensure continuation of the research currently being conducted.
Management:
- Involvement in the management of the Department.
Minimum requirements
- A PhD in Chemical Engineering (NQF level 10).
- A minimum of 5 years’ lecturing and research experience.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES:
- An NRF rating
- Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
KEY FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Competent in Chemical Engineering subjects for teaching/learning purposes.
- Competent in Chemical Engineering computer packages such as ASPEN, Exce
- Competent in either Chemical or Minerals Engineering research.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Must be able to interact with undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.
REMUNERATION
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
