Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Lecturing business management and business ethics modules, research and community engagement projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching
  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars to under-/postgraduate students.
  • Module and curriculum development and transformation.
  • Developing study material and study guides.
  • Initiate, develop, register and present short learning programs (SLP’s).
  • Supervision of master’s students.
Research
  • Conduct research and publish findings in respected national and international journals (IBSS/Scopus/ISI).
  • Initiate and maintain national and international research networks.
  • Participate in the evaluation of ethics and research proposals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on research-related matters
Social Responsibility
  • Initiate, develop, register and present community engagement projects that focus on work-integrated learning, community research, and outreach projects.
  • Industry involvement in terms of SLP’s, consultation, case study research and guest lecturing
Leadership
  • Must represent the School of Management Sciences on Faculty, University, National and International management structures, committees, boards or any other professional body.
  • Membership in the school’s management structures.


Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A research Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Business Management which articulated from an honour’s degree (or postgraduate diploma) (NQF level 8) in Business Management and a BCom degree in Business Management (NQF level 7).
  •  A minimum of 2 years’ experience lecturing in higher education institutions.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
  •  A minimum of 1 year research experience.
  • Publication of outputs in accredited journals.
  • Experience in lecturing business ethics at a higher education institution OR research in the field of business ethic
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in the development and execution of community and industry projects.
FUNCTIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field of business management and business ethics.
  • Demonstrable computer literacy and competence in the use of general word processing software programs as well as qualitative/quantitative analysis programs (e.g., JASP, SPSS, MPLUS, R, AMOS, ATLAS.ti)
  • Knowledge and competency of learning support in a learning management system (e.g. SAKAI, Moodle, Blackboard).
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
  • Good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
  • Flexibility and conflict management to work with diverse groups.
