POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW POSITION IN TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING AND INNOVATIVE TRAINING IN COMMERCE EDUCATION
The Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovative Training in South Africa (TELIT-SA) research entity within the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the North-West University has a 2-year position for a post-doctoral researcher to work on research projects. The projects focus on using innovative technology within commerce education and will include research on various technology and software used within FEMS for enhanced teaching and learning purposes. The projects will include initiatives such as developing a mobile game and using cutting-edge technology, such as eye-tracking, to evaluate and adapt the educational application of the technology. In addition, projects within the entity include using various digital assessment software, creating interactive avatars and videos for instructional videos, multimedia creation and evaluation, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence and artefact development.
The appointed applicant will actively participate in the current research projects and will have the opportunity to conceptualise and manage new research projects focused on technology use in teaching and learning. The applicant will be based at the Vanderbijpark Campus to increase research outputs in the mentioned focus areas. The position can be extended for another 1 year if the scholarly output is exceptional. NWU offers a stimulating working environment, and the successful applicant will be part of a growing and innovative research team at TELIT-SA.
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in article publications and expertise in technology integration and research in higher education.
Requirements:
- PhD in any field with expertise and research outputs related to technology use within the higher education sector obtained in the last 3 years. A PhD in Commerce, Education or Computer Science could be advantageous.
- Demonstrate experience in publications on any of the above-mentioned focused research areas.
- Proven track record of publications in top-quality journals (DHET Accredited Journals).
- Evidence of a previous or a funded project will be an added advantage.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Minimum requirements
A panel of researchers will remotely interview applicants that adhere to the criteria. The duration of the position is two years (possible extension for an additional year), beginning on 1 June 2023 (or based on the agreement). The monthly honorarium is per the university-agreed system for Post-doctoral research fellows.
