PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To contribute to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities relevant to the profession of discipline.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and Learning
· Carry a full lecturing load, including every aspect pertaining thereto.
· Facilitate interactive, relevant classes.
· Develop subject files, including reading materials, class notes, presentations etc.
Development and supervision
· The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
· Supervision of students, engage in course work.
Research
· Completion of own post-graduate studies in pursuit of PhD.
· Conduct research.
· Involvement in professional bodies.
Development of course materials
· Development of course material.
· Assessment, including formative and summative opportunities.
· Consultation (students, Colleagues, and industry).
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), email and internet.
· Comprehensive current subject matter and industry knowledge.
· Knowledge of the appropriate Facilitation and Assessment theory in Higher Education.
· A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students' educational environment and well-being.
· Language proficiency combined with the ability to address an audience.
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
· General positive and active demeanor.
· Strong assertive presence.
· Ability to function as a member of a dynamic team.
Minimum requirements
Lecturer
· A MCom (NQF Level 9) in Transport Economic / Logistics Management / Suppy Chain.
· A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant working experience in the subject group.
· A minimum of two (2) years' experience in work integrated learning.
Junior Lecturer:
· An Honours’ degree (NQF Level 8) in Transport / Logistics Management / Supply Chain.
· A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant working experience in the subject group.
· A minimum of one (1) years’ experience in work integrated learning.
