VACANCY: 1 PEROMNES GRADE: A9 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: A Junior Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
Job description
Teaching & learning
· Teaching and learning processes for the on-campus as well as the distance mode of delivery.
Research
· Completing an MEd for Education within a reasonable time after appointment or a relevant MEd specialisation in Business Studies and Economics for Education is necessary.
Community Engagement
· Engage in community projects/sharing of expertise within the community.
Administration
· Performing general administration tasks at programme and module level.
Minimum requirements
BEd Honours in Business Studies Education or
· a relevant BEd Honours focusing on Educational Management Leadership or Curriculum Studies accompanied by an Undergraduate focusing on Business Studies Education or Economics Education or Accounting Education
· BCom Hons Business Studies & PGCE or any other relevant education qualification is essential.
· Accreditations with any education-related professional bodies are desirable.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years’ combined experience in Business Studies Education in higher education or high school environments
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)
· Undertake undergraduate teaching and learning.
· Experience in teaching and learning material development.
· Experience in designing quality assessments.
· Scholarly knowledge in Business Studies and Economics Education.
· In possession of subject-specific methodology of teaching and learning.
· Excellent communication skills
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· Effective time management
· Computer literacy
· Ability to teach large classes in both contact and distance modes of delivery.
· Conducting research
· Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.

GENERAL
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the advertised appointment level and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
