PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
 
Lecturing Business Ethics modules, research and community engagement projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Teaching:
·         The preparation and delivery of business ethics lectures and seminars to undergraduate students.
·         Module and curriculum development and transformation.
·         Developing study material and study guides.
·         Initiate, develop, register and present short learning programs (SLPs).
·         Supervision of master’s students.
2.    Research:
·         Conduct business ethics research and publish findings in respected national and international journals (IBSS/Scopus/ISI).
·         Initiate and maintain national and international research networks.
·         Participate in the evaluation of ethics and research proposals.
·         Collaborate with colleagues on research-related matters.
 
3.    Social Responsibility:
·         Initiate, develop, register and present community engagement projects which focus on work-integrated learning, community research, and outreach projects.
·         Industry involvement in terms of SLPs, consultation, case study research and guest lecturing.
 
4.    Leadership:
·         Must represent the School of Management Sciences on Faculty, University, National and International management structures, committees, boards or any other professional body.
·         Membership in the school’s management structures

Minimum requirements

·         Research Master’s Degree in Philosophy or Commerce (Focus on Business ethics and/or related topics such as sustainable development, corporate governance, law, economic and business theories, responsible management or marketing practices) (NQF Level 9)
·         PhD in Philosophy or Commerce (Focus on Business ethics and/or related topics such as sustainable development, corporate governance, law, economic and business theories, responsible management or marketing practices) (NQF Level 10)

EXPERIENCE:
·         At least one year of experience in lecturing Business Ethics to large groups in higher education institutions.
·         At least one year of experience in the development and execution of community and industry projects.
·         Preferred research experience with the publication of outputs in accredited journals.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Comprehensive knowledge of the field of Business Ethics.
·         Demonstrable computer literacy and competence in the use of general word processing software programmes as well as qualitative/quantitative analyses programs (e.g., JASP, SPSS, MPLUS, R, AMOS, ATLAS.ti)
·         Knowledge and competency of learning support in a learning management system (e.g. SAKAI, Moodle, Blackboard).

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·         Good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
·         Flexibility and conflict management to work with diverse groups.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
