Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide effective meeting coordination to various governance, management, statutory and legislative
structures at the NWU.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Committee coordination
  • Agenda compilation
  • Minute and report coordination
  •  Meeting logistic
  • Governance coordination
  • Records Management
Ad hoc tasks
  •  Responsible to adhere to any tasks as delegated by the Director and the Head Secretariat.
OHS compliance
  • Development Under health and safety law, each employee has the duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by the former’s actions or omissions at work. Therefore, each employee must cooperate with management, OHS officials and colleagues to help everyone meet their legal requirements, whilst upholding and maintaining general occupational health and safety standards and practices.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Computer literate w.r.t. MS Office, internet, and e-mail
  • Report and minute writing skills
  • Meeting administration procedures
  • Basic corporate governance principles
  • Compliance governance principles
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Diligence and resilience
  • Detail orientated
  • Adaptability and proactivity
  • Conscientiousness
  • Adhering to applicable rules and regulations of a secretariat environment

Minimum requirements

NB: Shortlisted candidates must be willing to undergo psychometric testing.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  •  A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF 7).
  •  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in administration (nonfinancial)
ADDED ADVANTAGE:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in secretariat work and minute taking
  • A minimum of 1 year’ experience in a university environment

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy
guidelines.
