Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION/INTRODUCTION.

We are seeking a dynamic individual with a background in Economics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supervising students in our Postgraduate programmes and Executive Education programmes, while also providing supervision to master’s degree candidates.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Teaching & Learning
·       Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies, including curriculum development, that align with the Business School's vision and contribute to the achievement of academic and professional excellence.
2.      Postgraduate Supervision
·       Provide supervision and guidance to postgraduate students to foster responsible management practices and support the academic and professional growth of students.
3.      Research
·       Engage in business-related research activities, contributing to the school's academic excellence.
4.      Community Engagement
·       Engage with the community and demonstrate thought leadership in current developments in own discipline, forging and maintaining internal and external professional networks to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Business School and support its mission to create positive social impact through responsible management practices.

Minimum requirements

·       A Master’s degree in Economics.
 
EXPERIENCE
 
·       Three (3) years of relevant teaching and content creation experience, preferably in a Business School context.
·       Two (2) years Industry-related experience.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·       Clear evidence of strength in teaching and learning in a blended environment, and the ability to adapt teaching methodologies to meet the needs of diverse student populations and create an inclusive learning environment.
·       Proficiency in relevant data analysis and data visualisation tools.
·       Ability to design and implement research projects, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination.
·       Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and ability to apply them to complex real-world business problems.
·       Understanding of the latest developments and trends in data-driven decision making and artificial intelligence, and ability to incorporate them into teaching and research activities.
·       Experience with industry collaboration and consulting, including working with businesses to solve real-world problems using data-driven approaches.
·       Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
·       Demonstrated a high standard of interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.

·       Demonstrate a proactive approach and exemplary leadership skills in the area of teaching and learning.

·       Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and circumstances, and ability to manage competing demands effectively.
·       A clear vision, effective, clear, and timely two-way communication, strong results and people orientation, instilling trust, driving diversity, transformation, and ethics, and managing conflict proactively.
