Job description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this position is to deliver lectures in Marketing Management modules, engage in research activities and to contribute to community engagement projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
TEACHING:
- Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars on marketing management to undergraduate students.
- Contribute to module and curriculum development and transformation.
- Develop study material and study guides.
- Initiate, develop, register and present short learning programs (SLP’s).
- Supervise master’s students.
RESEARCH:
- Conduct research and publish findings in respected national and international journals (IBSS/Scopus/ISI).
- Establish and maintain national and international research networks.
- Participate in the evaluation of ethics and research proposals.
- Collaborate with colleagues on research-related matters.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Initiate, develop, register and present community engagement projects which focus on work-integrated learning, community research, and outreach.
- Engage with industries through Short Learning Programmes (SLP’s), consultation, case study research and guest lecturing.
LEADERSHIP
- Represent the School of Management Sciences in Faculty, University, National and International management structures, committees, boards or professional bodies.
- Participate in the school’s management structures.
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A research master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Marketing Management, obtained after an honours degree or postgraduate diploma in Marketing Management (NQF level 8) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing Management or related field (NQF level 7).
- A minimum of 1 year lecturing experience within a higher education institution.
FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the field of marketing management.
- Demonstrable computer literacy and competence in using general word processing software programmes as well as qualitative/quantitative analysis programs (e.g., JASP, SPSS, MPLUS, R, AMOS, ATLAS.ti)
- Have knowledge and competency in learning support in a learning management system (e.g. SAKAI, Moodle, Blackboard).
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
- Exhibit good interpersonal relations and a client-service orientation.
- Demonstrate flexibility and conflict management skills to work with diverse groups.
